01The headliner: From Prospect to Franchise Face
The face under the helmet — Maye’s silver Patriots lid with red facemask.
Drafted third overall in 2024, Maye stepped into one of the NFL’s most demanding jobs: quarterback of the New England Patriots. The leap came fast. By his second season he had the Patriots at 14–3, playing in Super Bowl LX, and pushing for MVP honors — a rise that turns a young passer into the league’s most-wanted name on a back.
Jersey demand tracks performance, and Maye’s trajectory is exactly the kind that sells shirts before a single 2026 snap. When a franchise finds its face, the merchandise follows for years.
02The numbers: Behind the 2026 hype
The 2026 jersey race has a new leader. Projections built on search interest and historical sales put Maye at the top of the league — a different measure from the NFLPA’s official year-end list, where Josh Allen topped sales on the back of his first MVP.

Projection vs. official tally: search buzz points to Maye; receipts still favor Allen. Either way, New England's QB is the story.
By team, Philadelphia leads the league with three names on the list (Barkley, Hurts, DeJean). New York and Green Bay each place two. Maye is the outlier at the very top — the only quarterback whose name is moving this much this early.
